Custom Heater Dial Design

Continuing my interior renovation is the heater dials.

Got a replacement wood effect fascia off the bay for £4, then set to work rubbing it back.

It turned out i had to remove every last bit of wood effect before any paint would stick to it which took forever. Anyway got sprayed black.

Dad very skilfully turned (on a lathe, not with magic) some stainless steel into some very stylish rings, then they got glued in.

I couldn't paint the fascia with the bottom two stickers on so they had to come out, they wouldn't come out without breaking, so i had to come up with a cunning plan.

Eventually decided to make my own.

Bit of a blue peter style make, but does a very nice job.

You will need:

1x photoshop skillz
1x inkjet printer
1x laminating sheet
1x jaffa cake wrapper

Designed the new stickers in photoshop, and added a very subtle mod. The car for the left sticker is now a direct outline of my car not the standard generic boring car shape.

Printed them off and laminated both sides, then to get the orange glow when backlit, i cut up a jaffa cake wrapper (exactly the right orange ) and laminated that to the back.

Shines exactly the same colour and brightness as the stock ones do, so well chuffed.
